Christmas Eve on Norfolk Island

Hey, it's Christmas Eve on Norfolk Island. It's summer and we're on holidays (yippee!). "Dogs on holidays" you say, "what next?".  For Christmas we usually go onto a low security mode which requires us to implement a soft growling regime with minimal barking. Dogs in other cars get a pass. Normal territorial marking continues, however (a little dab'll do it).
During this season we are still required to take our humans for at least two walks a day and chase the ball for them, but otherwise our time is our own. So we'll chill at the beach some.
Talking of beach, there are two photo's in this posting. The first is a view of a beach in China; the other is a beach on Norfolk Island. Guess which is which? Imagine trying to chase a ball on that China beach. I want to be there to see what happens when someone yells "SHARK  SHARK," in Chinese of course.
If you are planning a seaside holiday our beach on Norfolk Island has some space for you to sit. This Chinese beach, on the other hand, is .... popular, you could say. And when they say, "everybody goes there," you'd better believe it.
As soon as the holidays are over we will be back to our usual routine of taking our humans for walks and swimming out to get the ball. Of course we also have to run security on the truck and assist at dog training school then too.
Anyway, enjoy Christmas and we hope you get some good doggy treats. We have some presents under the tree. Small and round and looking suspiciously like more balls. That'll mean more swimming out to retrieve them, but, if that's what it takes to keeps our humans happy, then that's what we'll have to do. We are wondering though, what's wrong with doggy food treats, chewies, and after-clip (sort of like after-shave for dogs that smells disgusting). Show some imagination - puuleese!
Anyway, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Hugo and Spud. See ya in 2011.

Our first post

Hi,
Before we get down to the nitty gritty of a dog touring on Norfolk Island I’ll tell you who we are.
I'm Hugo and I’m a labra-doodle.  That’s part labrador, part standard poodle.
I was born in Tasmania in December 2007 and came to Norfolk Island when I was 8 weeks old. I am considered quite mature for my age. I live at Tern Corner with my younger brother, Spud (Tassie's Hot Potato).
I enjoy swimming, ball games, long walks on the beach, rides on the truck, fluffy toys, eating, sleeping and lots of cuddles. When I dream it’s about surfing because I'm crazy about swimming, and the bigger the waves the more fun I have. SMOH (that's single male, own home, if you're interested).

G’day,
I’m Spud. I, too, am a labra-doodle. I was born in Tassie in June of 2008 and I also came to Norfolk Island when I was 8 weeks old. I love ball games, fluffy toys to demolish, ball games, walks, rides on the truck and ball games. I'm getting to like swimming more this year than I did last because people toss a ball out for me, but I hate baths.
When I dream it’s about all-you-can eat-buffet for dogs - cheese, peanut butter, bananas, pawpaws (Hugo really dreams about curling up on the old man's lap).
People say I’m noisy – I do talk a lot and I think they understand some what I'm saying (humans are a bit thick when it comes to dog talk).  I also bark, but that's mostly for security reasons. Hugo (his full name is Tassie's Hugo-the-Boss) is head dog around here. I knows me place and I keeps to it. BTW, it’s Hugo's idea to hyphenate our breed name (it’s the poodle in him). SMOH also.
